The best so far...

Hello all, I'm back from my week in Winnipeg.  Loved the conference, not big on the city - sorry to any Winnipeg people.  Anyway I'm here with a product rave/review that I couldn't wait to share with you!

As you may remember, my salon started carrying the pricey Kerastase product line.  I bought the Oleo serum and vowed to use every amber drop before I bought any other Kerastase products.

Then my stylist Claire, who is a huge enabler when it comes to my product addiction, showed me her favourite product from this line.  Her words.. 'this is like liquid gold around here, we go thru tube after tube and everyone raves about it'.   So she proceeded to use it on my hair and of course I felt like I couldn't walk out without it.

I was still wavering a little and then I smelled it.  Sigh.  It's fresh & delicious, kind of citrus smelling.  Like 'what have you got on your hair' kinda smell.  So yes, I bought it.  Of course I bought it.

Kerastase Ciment Thermique - Heat activated reconstructor milk.  What the heck is up with the name?  I never remember what this is called.

This is a leave in product and acts like a cross between a leave in conditioner and smoothing serum.  According to my stylist Claire I wouldn't need to flat iron my hair after using this.  When I used this at home I wasn't so sure I'd get the same results as she did in the salon, but I did!  This gave me that bouncy hair commercial kind of hair and I was thrilled with how it turned out.  My hair looks healthy and almost as good as when I get a professional blow out.

The important thing to note is that you do need some sort of heat to activate this product.  This isn't for those who just wash their hair and let it air dry.  This doesn't weigh my hair down or give me that greasy, gluey feeling the next day.  My hair just felt soft and like I had no product in it at all.

I love this more than the Oleo serum and if I had to choose one, this would be it hands down.  It costs about $40.  But that said, this is quite a large tube and I only use about a quarter size amount in my hair so it will last me awhile.  For once I have no buyers regret with a high end product, no twinge in my stomach, nothing.  This is TOTALLY worth the money.

One strange note about this product....

There are many languages on the back explaining how to use the product..ok fine.  But why is the ingredient list in Chinese?  Japanese?  when it's made in Spain.  I don't get it.

Either way, this may be my favourite product of the year so far.  Of the year!  I give it a huge thumbs up and if you are looking to treat yourself, or add a product to your birthday/Christmas wish list..this would be the one.

Can you tell I love it?  And now I'm off, hoping someone will ask me a question with my back turned so I'll have to swing my bouncy hair around to answer.

  1. LOL. "Oh, I'm sorry...*dramatic hair toss*...what was that?" This stuff sounds fab! I can totally relate to your buyer's remorse twinges too, hate those!

  2. Oh my. I need some fancy milk in my hair. It's been a long time (a few months in blogger time ;) ) since I seriously considered shelling out for pricey hair stuff. I think this is calling my name.

P.S. Pretty sure that's Japanese, and I've just always associated it with Japan's love for beauty products which surpasses all of North America, Europe and the Middle East combined. lol

  3. Ok this is on my "list". Sounds like a great product!! I've always been a sucker to buy all kinds of stuff after I get my hair done. I think they know it too! But sometimes you find a gem and this looks like it is! YAY! I feel like I must try this since you said it was your product of the year. I like that! :-)

  6. Can you get it at the drugstore since it's a L'oreal product or could I get it from Sephora? I really want to try it!

  8. Sounds like a great product! I have very thick, poufy hair......do you think it would help to reduce the volume and frizz? I prefer not to use a flat iron.

  9. Charlotte - Exactly, can you picture it?

Liz - You smart girl, that makes sense to me...! I think you'd love this & I bet it would work great with your hair texture.

Jayme & Mendi - I'm a total hair product junkie and they see me coming for sure..but this one, worth it! And you are so welcome..it's true, you both came with me on my trip :)

Girlie Blogger - Thank you, I don't think you'd regret it even thou it's pricey..

Marie - You can only get Kerastase at the salon, unfortunately not at Sephora as far as I know either..

Shawna - I wish I could get the commission :) Let me know if you try it!

Harshleen - It definitely helps to reduce the poufyness of my hair, you do need to use a blow dryer to activate it but I don't HAVE to touch up with a flat iron if I choose not to

  11. This sounds AMAZING!!! I wish I had hair to fling though. :)
I'm from Winnipeg and I know how much the city sucks now. 25 years ago when I lived there it was starting to go bad, but now...it's just...no words. So glad I left when I did.

  13. Nice review, I had to order it because it sounds amazing and I am look forward to try it. I was looking for a serum all morning, and was told about the Moroccan oil, but decided to stick with what i know. My hairdresser used to use the serum nutri-sculpt and my hair would absorb very quickly, I hate greasy hair look, it looked healthy and bouncy. However, its an expensive brand, but I must say the results are beyond the price for an intense uplift as my hair is rather dry I have also ordered the Nutritive Bain Satin Complete Nutrition Shampoo, Nutritive Sérum Oléo-Relax Smoothing Sérum, Nutritive Lait Vital Nourishing Care Conditioner and Nutritive Masquintense Cheveux Fins Treatment for Dry Hair from feelunique, free delivery which it did make a difference.
Watch out girls, my hair will be so bouncy, I will need to tight it down.

  14. So I got my delivery from feelunique.com this morning of all 5 products in different packages but all at received at the same time, which is a + as i cannot wait around all day on a Monday. The Ciment Thermique does smell yummy but the shampoo is rather small, like Tracy's hairdresser said "Liquid gold" came in a small package. I'm about to jump in the shower and wash my hair, cant wait to see the results. Toodles.
