I got mail - Paula Begoun Skin Care Samples!

I've got some interesting & exciting mail coming in the next week or so.  Who doesn't love getting fun things in the mail?  The first parcel I was expecting just arrived from Paula's Choice.

It occurred to me recently that I often talk about how much I love Paula Begoun and rely on her research & reviews from Beautypedia and CosmeticCops.  If that's the case, why haven't I tried any of her skincare or makeup line?  I went on Paulaschoice.com & started doing some research, when I discovered that she sells samples of her skin care so that you can try before you buy full size.  Love that!  So I ordered...a ton, just look at this stack.

The sample packages are typically not big enough to get a true idea about a product, at least for me.  So I decided to order 2 of everything, just to give it a decent try.  I bought these little jars pictured below, where I can transfer these into.  Just so I'm not fussing about with the sample package, that drives me nuts.

In total I have 34 samples which cost me $24.10CDN with taxes, & included 3 free samples.  I wasn't charged anything for shipping, which I didn't expect, so even better.   I placed my order late night on April 2nd & received it on April 11th, along with emails that confirmed my order & gave me shipping information & tracking details.  Very happy with that!

I plan to test these one line at a time to keep things straight, and then post my thoughts.  It would be tough to do a real thorough review, given the size of the samples, but I can definitely tell you my initial impressions.  First up, the CLEAR line which is meant to be her skin care line to help with acne.  My skin has been a bit fussy lately so I am eager to try this.  I'll keep you all posted.

Have any of you tried any of Paula Begoun's line?  What are your thoughts?

  2. Hey Tracy-I went through a phase where I read her books and tried a lot of her products. I like her gentle cleanser (the one that is like a clear gel) and her toners are nice too. But, I don't currently use anything from her line.

  8. Hey Tracy, just like you I am a big fan of Paula's choice and Beautypedia. I started using her products last year and have had good results with them.Really like her Resist barrier repair moisturizer as my night cream. Btw how many samples do you have to order for free shipping?

  9. BeautyTidbits - I honestly don't know. I saw a few other reviews that said because they are able to ship their samples in a large envelope that you're usually not charged for postage. I ordered so many that they came in a little box & I still didn't get charged, so long story short...I believe A LOT :)

  16. Hi T, let me know what you think of the Paula's Choice day cream. I'm still in the market for a good day cream with SPF. I've tried a few of the recommendations from your last post of Paula's list of products - the Olay Renewing Cream and the Neutrogena Facial wash. I think after using the Kibio and loving the smell, I am expecting more out of a day cream. Too bad Kibio doesn't have SPF. Well I am rambling...later.

Paula's Tinted Moisturizer is so very everything. It feels like nothing on the skin, but does give the face an evenness and glow. Also has a great sun screen. I can tell you that you will look much younger with this product on than with "makeup". Glides on so easily. After applied, it just blends with the skin color and, as I have already stated, it looks only natural, - nothing more than young.
