I'm a OPI Nail Envy, clear polish kind of girl. But for Christmas I decided to bust out
a more daring nail look and used Rimmel's 60 Second nail color in Deliciously Dark.
I loved it! I kept explaining things with my hands, so that everyone could see my
beautiful nails. I think it's put me on a course to try new looks for my nails. So in
that spirit, I thought I'd share with you the polish trends this winter, according to
yahoo.com.
5 Polish Trends to Wear This Winter
Even if you don't have the guts or the budget to strut the most coveted couture this season, you can always turn to your manicure. Unleash your inner fashionista by trying one of these nail colors perfect for winter, which range from ultra-bold to just plain pretty.
Foil Effects
This spill looks as if we're gazing out into the starry night sky through a telescope — and we're not too far off course. Orly's Cosmic FX Collection is all about metallics and texture. This hue is a black-plum mixture that will make your fingers and toes look out of this world.
Orly Nail Lacquer in Out of This World, $10;sallybeauty.com or ulta.com.
Cobalt Blue
Blues get a little brighter this season, which is good news if you're not ready to give up your electric summer colors just yet. MAC has teamed up with nail genius Jin Soon for the Nail Trend F/W 2010 collection, inspired by Imperial China. This particular hue reminds us of the detail on antique Chinese plates.
MAC Nail Lacquer in Ming Blue, $13; maccosmetics.com
Deep Red
This season, classic cherry-red nails are stepping aside to make room for their darker counterparts. Turn to this crimson creme polish on days you want to bring out your inner vixen.
Essie Limited Addiction, $8; essieshop.com
"Gruple" (Gray-Purple)
Although it looks violet in the bottle, on nails it takes on a more grayish hue, thus becoming a lovely hybrid shade. Better grab a bottle fast — we can see this following in the sell-out footsteps of Jade and Black Satin.
Chanel Nail Colour in Paradoxal, $23; chanel.com
Lots and Lots of Glitter
Pop culture is a huge influence on beauty trends, and we like to think that Deborah Lippmann harnessed that affinity in these two hues. Across the Universe (pictured left) pays homage to the 2007 award-nominated movie-musical. The navy polish has flashy blue and green specks, which take on the form of nail art. Lippmann went Gaga over Bad Romance (right), a smoky black hue infused with purple glitter. They go on sheer, so you'll need to layer for maximum color.
$18 each, lippmanncollection.com

I go to a school which strictly prohibits nail polish, so I can't really wear it unless we have a vacation or exams. Otherwise I use mostly neon colors or lots of glitter! :D
ReplyDeleteWow Glamadazzle you do none or neon & glitter, those are two extremes :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the "gruple" style. Its very pretty and unique
ReplyDeleteI like those shades too Pam, I don't know that I need Chanel to get it thou...$24 yikes. Maybe if I did a better job with applying it, but I usually just slap it on pretty quickly!
ReplyDeleteYey, glitters!!! =D
ReplyDeleteI picked up paradoxal back in early fall and I still love it!!! Such a great colour!
ReplyDeleteNikosmommy - I thought you were going to say you got in Vegas for a screaming deal and I was going to kick myself for missing another bargain. I still can't believe all the shopping I could have done but didn't get to!
ReplyDeleteI have always been attracted to blue polish when it is in style. The crazy glitter is a bit much for me. Rimmel 60 Second is my favourite brand because it lasts longer on my nails.
ReplyDeleteShawna - I would love to pull off blue polish but I just don't think I can do it. Isn't the Rimmel great, I gave it to both of my nieces for Christmas b/c I loved it so much.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try out the Gruple! So pretty! :D
ReplyDeleteRizzie I see you have a new blog and name! I wondered where you had gone, looks good :)
ReplyDeleteI really want that MAC and Chanel nail polish, so pretty <3
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, I agree! The cobalt blue is such a unique gorgeous color.
ReplyDeleteLOVE dark polishes. I just got a really pretty purple from Sephora, I think it's called just a little dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI love that name Kerri, I think I buy some of mine for the name alone..kind of the way I pick wine :)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with glitter polishes at the moment. I really want to get a Deborah Lippman polish but they are so expensive.

Alicia
Alicia I know people rave about Deborah Lippman polishes but I am so with you on the price!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Nail Envy OPI clear polish girl, too! I very rarely venture away from it because my nails are so brittle in the Winter. These colors (especially the chanel one) have inspired me to get out of my comfort zone ; )
ReplyDeleteYeah Marie, another OPI Nail Envy girl! That Chanel color is clearly the crowd favourite :)
ReplyDeleteI love the cobalt blue from Mac.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy:)
