It's a tie (I couldn't help it!)
Lorac Perfectly Lit in Spotlight
I love this product and am so happy to have found it. I wrote a full blog post you can read here, that will give you a more detailed review. Suffice it to say...this gives you a gorgeous glow & is not too sparkly or over the top for use during the day. Love all around. The only one downside is the price, this retails for about $32CAD..but a little truly does go a long way.

Hard Candy Bronzer in Tiki
Again any regular reader will also know my love for this product. This is not a bronzer but gives a beautiful gold highlight that I think would suit most any skin tone. I did a full review on this as well, which you can read here. Hard Candy is available at Wal-Mart & this retails for less than $10CAD...pretty hard to beat, you have to try it!
Honourable Mention
NARS Illuminator in Orgasm & ELF Shimmering Facial
Whip in Toasted
These are surprisingly similar, although I will admit that the NARS has a better golden/bronze colour & is easier to blend than the ELF. Given the price difference however ($30 vs $1) you will have to judge what will do the job for you. I daub a little on my cheekbones, etc. with my finger & then just lightly rub in circular motions to blend. If I am using powder foundation I apply these first & the result is really pretty. These are also great on hot summer days, when I don't wear as much make-up but still want a little glow.

Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Pure Sparkle Powder
This came in my Glitz & Glam kit that I bought in Florida. Can anyone guess why I don't prefer this product? I am a little beyond the age where this would be cute, the picture pretty much says it all for me. I am thinking my 13 year old niece might like to wear this for her dance/cheer competitions. Otherwise, it's just not for me..way too much sparklicity for this girl.
Any highlighters you swear by? I would love to hear about them! I thought this was going to be my last 'Best Of' post, but I have o.n.e. more coming...stay tuned.
I also use the elf Whip in Toasted. It gives a very nice shimmer and glow, but it seems to separate in the tube and I usually first get clear gel out before the color. Kind of annoying, but for $1 I still love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Tisha, that has happened to me too with Citrus. If I shake it up a bit before opening it seems to solve that trick. Yes I guess for $1 we can't really complain :)
ReplyDeleteI love MAC's Creme Colour Base in Hush.. it's the best highlighter everrrr, I want it in Shell as well :)
ReplyDeleteMakeYuUp - I noted that in my MAC 'to swatch' notes, thanks for the recommendation!
ReplyDeleteYou have so much makeup, wow! I love all these reviews you do. How is the rest of Tarina makeup? I've never used it before and don't know what to make of it, since it's so expensive ..
ReplyDeleteMiss*Kimmy-I have heard good things about their powder blush in 'Dollskin' & their eyeliner which they call a hyperliner. Which is supposed to be of the same quality or better than UD's 24/7 liner. I haven't tried anything else from them b/c you are right, a little expensive ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah the elf primer is really good, i love it :)
ReplyDeletelovely post! i want to buy a new one so this helped!

I know what you mean about stuff like Sparklicity- there is a time to put away that little girl looking make-up and move on to the real stuff...
ReplyDeleteChristine - Me too! Thanks for stopping by my blog :)
ReplyDeleteAnnie - Glad it helped, I have enjoyed reading your blog as well
Zoe - Isn't it the truth! Quickest way to age yourself too I find.
Like the blog...just fallowed!
ReplyDeleteplz fallow www.amalasite.blogspot.com
I was thinking of buying that Tarina Tarantino highlighter but I don't think I will now. I don't love a lot of glitter on my cheeks. I may try that Lorac one though. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Alicia - I'd highly recommend the Lorac, but the Hard Candy is beautiful too & much less expensive if you're new to highlighters and aren't sure :)
ReplyDeleteI love Smashbox Soft Lights in Shimmer. I took a chance a few years ago and spent the money on it, and it is my all time favourite. Awesome for pale skin like mine.
ReplyDeleteShawna - you have great taste b/c I know that is a highly rated award winning product that I had totally forgotten about! I think I need to finally try it.
